Wire Wrapping

Make Wire Coils

Use as a clasp for cords or add to jewellery designs as a spacer.

Tools:

Mandrel: The mandrel can be made from any cylindrical rod that is strong enough.

Side cutters

Nylon Jaw Pliers

Wire thickness can be any thickness

The mandrel should be thicker than the wire to be used for making the coil. Hold the wire with your thumb and wrap the wire around the mandrel, as you wrap make sure there are no gaps in-between the coils. When the coil is the required length, trim both ends. Before removing the wire from the mandrel flatten the cut end with nylon jaw pliers to remove the sharp edges. Slide the coil off the mandrel.
